the Very Best

Remember that really enjoyable, totally free, four language spanning, Afro-pop inspired mixtape from 2008?  The Very Best is back, and have a proper debut LP on the way, entitled Warm Heart of Africa, that will be released this coming fall on Green Owl.

“Warm Heart Of Africa” is the first free-MP3 from the album, and also the title-track.  It’s an African inspired pop song (no, really?) that fittingly features vocal contributions from Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend (whose music was featured on the Very Best Mixtape).

You can also stream new album track “Ntende Uli” below, but we’re still waiting to hear “Rain Dance,” which features M.I.A. (whose music was also featured on the Very Best Mixtape).

For better or worse, I have a sneaking suspicion that there’s going to be some musical overlap between the Very Best Mixtape and the Very Best’s Warm Heart of Africa

And if you still don’t have last year’s mixtape, you should really grab it now, ’cause it’s still good, and it’s still free.
