music video review: Matt & Kim “Lessons Learned”

indecently exposed indie-rockers…
..out in the cold…

..gives you mega bonus points.

At first I thought that Matt & Kim’s 2009 album Grand was really fun indie-pop-rock, but at the same time kind of novel and cheesy.  I definitely enjoyed it from the start, but I thought it would wear old quickly; however, it’s been a few [...]

leaked: Passion Pit “Manners” LP

Only 8 or so months after their fantastic debut EP Chunk of Change – which earned the band instant semi-mainstream-indie buzz status, Pitchfork acclaim, commercial spots with Sony Canada, publicity through MTV, iTunes, CMJ, BBC, and the ‘not surprisingly laggard’ NME.com, and a forthcoming appearance on Josh Schwartz’s Rockeville, CA  – Passion Pit return (probably [...]

Liam’s signature clothing is Pretty Green, but not literally “green”…

..and definitely won’t feature anything “skinny”.

“Encapsulating the style and swagger of the most iconic front man of our generation”
– the Pretty Green ’slogan’
(via using a font from a previous generation)

Self-proclaimed rock AND fashion guru Liam Gallagher has started his own clothing line.  It’s called Pretty Green, and Liam swears that it isn’t “gonna [...]

Empire of the Sun “We Are The People” (the Golden Filter remix)

The conceptual indie-cover band, the Golden Filter, is back with another cover/remix.  The presumable existence of this track was mentioned back when I asked if “the Golden Filter [was] going to make cover bands cool” – and now the band has revealed its whereabouts, via Twitter.  I’m not a huge fan of this song to [...]

it’s official, the Flaming Lips are “state approved” rockers

Oklahoma is so lucky!!!

After a lengthy public voting process, the Flaming Lips were found to be the people’s choice for Oklahoma State Rock Song.  But before it could be made official all sorts of controversy ensued.  But then the governor saved the day, and today things were made official at a lovely little ceremony and [...]

why you shouldn’t read mainstream-celebrity-gossip-blogs…

..Britney Spears’ TAMPON ALERT, wtf ?

Stick with alternative-celebrity-gossip-blogs and you’ll probably just see Uffie’s nips, or Lykke Li singing in a park, or Justice selling out, or Alice Glass escaping foreign police.  Basically: Alt = less tampons.

are Busy P & Chad Krueger the same person?!

Just noticed that Busy P aka Pedro Winter – ex-Daft Punk manager//Ed Banger owner/manager – and Chad Krueger – Nickelback singer//Canadian “rock legend” – might be the same person.
Could it be that ‘post-ironic band tees’ vs. ‘designer-douche-bag jeans’ conceal his/their mutual identity?
Does Busy Krueg/Chad P/Pedro Kruegar/Chad Winter live in both France AND Canada?
Does he/it own [...]

Music Video Review: Kanye West “Amazing”

The seemingly adored new video for Kanye’s third 808s & Heartbreak single, “Amazing,” is nothing but hype; thanks both to director Hype Williams’ namesake, and more so to the over zealous (and apparently) easy to please music-blogosphere.
Much to my astonishment, the Internet seems to be instantly heralding “Amazing” as a high-budget masterpiece, with various blogs [...]

happy Earth Day! (from the Flaming Lips)

The Flaming Lips played a concert in Washington last Sunday, in honor of Earth Day.
I want to say that “Wayne Coyne demonstrated ‘green transportation’ via ‘ball-surfing on a crowd of people’,” but I just can’t make that joke.
What did you do for the planet today?
Did any other Earth Day related news occur in the indie-blogosphere?
Sidenote: [...]
